What About You?
August 21, 2017

I adore hummingbirds.

In the instant of the automatic click, these two pictures are awesome.

If you were part of the Solar eclipse, I would like to hear from you.

What did you experience?

Some of the local schools started up this week, other will open doors the following week.

For several years, Michigan had signed into law, 'That public schools wouldn't open until after 'Labor Day'.

Because Michigan is large in the tourist industry, the powers that were, thought it was wise to keep schools closed, so the last tourist dollar could be had.

Thankfully, wiser heads in Lansing (new people in office), prevailed.

I often wonder how I ever got anything done when I was working a job.

Don't get me wrong, Yolanda is a seven days a week labor of love.

Still, back then I was doing both (though Yolanda is takes more of us now), and keeping up around here.

I do admit, I help Karen out more around here.

I have become the chief cook, and bottle washer, (most of the time).

Again, a labor of love.

As I sit here, Sophie is at my feet purring away.

She is one purring machine and gives Miss Penny a run for her money.

The two kitties are always at it, leaving poor Snickers out of the mix.

Akita, well she is 12 years old with some sore joints, and rarely gets frisky these days.

This past week, We dropped Yolanda off at Hope Network and made our way to the shores of Lake Michigan fort a couple of hours.

'Holland State Park' is our favorite spot.

Back in the day, the beach was full of bikini clad girls and young women.

Where there are girls, you will always find the young bucks strutting their stuff too.

Not so much anymore.

Now the beach is full of grandparents and moms with all the screaming kids:-)

I am told that the Young crowd heads up the way a bit to Grand Haven.

I know, some needless information.

Sophie, is now in the window sill enjoying the sights and sounds of nature.

I do enjoy it myself.

I do enjoy the nature, myself.

Dragonflies are Another Beneficial Insect, and in abundance right now.

We celebrated a couple of grand kids birthdays this past week.

Yolanda is doing well.

This week, I am checking up on you and what are you doing for your health

(Miss Penny licking Sophie.)

Most weeks I write about wildlife, your gardens and habitats, and the health of your gardens.

Encouraging you to allow nature to take care nature.

Minimizing pesticides and planting for your wildlife.

This week, I would like to talk a bit about you.

Your well being.

Are you eating right?

Are you getting in some exercise?

Are you grounded?

That's right, it is also called earthing.

(Sophie on the bed.)

A few years back I did a short series on earthing and the natural benefits of getting grounded.

I'm not going to that extreme this time around, but I do want to mention a few of the benefits to earthing.

Now, if you haven't read or heard of this natural health benefit, you are in for a treat.

Here is what Happens:

A natural build up of free radicals ( a relatively new term, or so it seems) leads to inflammation and cell damage.

(How important it is now to pump our selves with antioxidants. More than a normal diet should require.)

When we re-connect with the Earth, balance is restored.

Negatively charged electrons from the surface of Earth wash up and over our positively charged, stressed, and inflamed body.

When we make direct contact with the surface of the earth our bodies receive a charge of energy that makes us feel better, fast. Dr Stephen Sinatra MD, (A heart doctor), has this to says.

"If you were to ask me about the most impressive breakthroughs, I am positive one of my answers would surprise you. It has nothing to do with high-tech at all. It is the very Earth you live on. Literally, the ground beneath your feet".

This energy infusion is powerful stuff.

It can restore and stabilize the bio-electrical circuitry that governs your physiology and organs, harmonize your basic biological rhythms, boost self-healing mechanisms, reduce inflammation and pain, and improve your sleep and feeling of calmness.

(Moonflowers, what a heavenly smell for one night.)

Earthing Benefits:

Modern lifestyle, including the widespread use of insulating rubber- or plastic-soled shoes, (and rubber gloves), has disconnected most people in so-called developed societies from Earth’s surface energy.

Most of us don’t walk barefoot nor do we sleep on the ground as we did in times past.

This physical disconnect from the Earth is totally overlooked, and research shows this actually contributes to inflammation, pain, fatigue, stress, poor sleep, and other issues like high blood pressure and poor digestion.

By reconnecting to the Earth, many common symptoms are often relieved and even eliminated.

Earth heals.

Many of you know, it just feels good to get dirty.

Earthing is relatively new to science, yet it is something that Native Americans have known all along.

As do indigenous people of Australia, South America, and other lands.

I grew up a country boy.

We played and ran around barefoot.

We worked the garden barefoot.

Cut off shorts, bareback and no shoes.

It was a way of life.

There wasn't a summer day that didn't go by that we weren't dirty from head to toe.

Growing up in the 50's, 60's and early 70's, it was a way of life.

I'm sure it was for many of you as well.

We were also (on the most part) a pretty healthy lot.

Now days kids are always getting sick.

They spend little time outside, and when they do, they are wearing shoes and aren't allowed to get dirty.

Always washing their hands.

Thankfully the medical field and government agencies are banning anti-bacterial soaps.

Research also shows that earthing can also help with ADHD, (which so many kids seem to be diagnosed with these days).

Really, it's a good thing to place your toddler on the ground.

It is okay (and a normal action), for your youngster to place objects in their mouths.

Yes, it is a good thing to eat a little dirt.

(Getting a few Monarchs to visit.)

I realize many of you are of my generation, give or take a few years.

It was normal to play and get dirty.

It was natural to explore your surroundings and get dirty.

Can you recall how well you slept?

Think about the days you are outside, making contact with Earth.

Did you sleep well that night?

Research also shows how your body rebounds much quicker when you are earthing.

Yes, my body is full f aches and pains.

Torn Rotater cuffs, arthritis in my neck and some joints, and other back issues.

Some of this is from playing hard in my youth.

Some from tugging on Yolanda all these years.

Some from old age.

Still, I sleep well, and my digestive system is working.

It is this, a gardener knows there is a connection with Earth and body and soul.

Besides, it feels so good to simply get outside as we are intended to do.

Before this letter gets way to lengthy, I better cut things short.

I encourage you to read get Dr. Koniver's Free E-Book, and read this page when you down load it.

Dr. Koniver is an M.D. and encourages any amount of earthing, and encourages a daily dose of 10 minutes or more a day.

I have absolutely no affiliation with any of the people I mention, I am looking out for your well being.

I have read a few books on the subject, and continue to read and learn.

I also understand how wonderful God, and His creation are.

(Hummingbird Moth.)

How wonderful is Creation?

Instead of spending huge amounts of money to toss vitamins, supplements and anti-depressants down our throat to minimize the damage caused by free radicals........

If you can touch the ground, that is all it takes.

Lean against a tree, pulling weeds and ruffling a few leaves.

Walk barefoot.

Whether you spend a day earthing, as you work your gardens, touching crops, leaning against a tree, or cleaning the dirt from your nails.

You can feel how earth holds us.

How natural it is to be supported by her.

Earth comforts us, it literally washes away our stress and free radicals.

Earth calms and fortifies you and your health.

Eat healthy, get some exercise, and get dirty.

Well it is time to fly for now.

Before I go, here is your positive thought for the week.

God Bless.

"The only explanation for a Christian's life has to be the existence of God.
Otherwise, it makes no sense."

Oswald Chambers

I'm not talking about a senseless, or wild approach to life. But seeking His wisdom and revelation.

"I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father,
may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better".

Ephesians 1:17

"Treat the earth well:

It was not given to you by your parents,

It was loaned to you by your children.

We do not inherit the Earth from our

Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children."

Ancient Indian Proverb.

Your friend indeed,

Ron Patterson
