EASTER LETTER, 2011
April 22, 2011
Type in Easter on your Internet search engine and colored eggs, bunnies and such pop up.
How confusing Easter must seem to someone searching or to other countries etc.
This is my Easter letter.
Read it through and prayerfully you might be blessed.
If the thought of God, or me sharing my faith offends you, please feel free to delete this letter and I'll look forward to sharing another "Gardening For Wildlife" newsletter next Monday.
Since I have decided to listen to God and began to follow his desires for me, I have seen Nature (his gifts) and people in a whole new light.
It is amazing what we can see and hear when our eyes and ears and especially our heart are open to God.
Imagine what we can dream, feel and visualize when our heart and mind are open to His will.
I am so Awe struck and thankful at what my God has given me, and I thank you for allowing me to share with you.
If you know anything about me, you know that Spring is by far my favorite time of the year.
After a long winter in Michigan, of snow, cold, and sometimes weeks of sunless days, who wouldn't look forward to a change.
Winter does play a part in my appreciation for Spring, but it is much more than that.
I have always believed that Easter or Resurrection Sunday is in the Spring for a reason.
Even in my younger days when I knew about Easter, but didn't know Jesus.
There was and is something special about spring and new life.
"Hope Springs Eternal"
Spring brings forth new life every where we look.
We can't wait for spring.
As the days grow warmer, the grass turns green.
Flowers begin to bloom and trees and other plant life wakes up.
Insects wake up and eggs hatch.
Baby animals appear all over again.
You may even plant a few seed yourself.
You might even see of feel love in the air.
Love.... another life giving moment.
Everyone is familiar with the smells of Spring, but do you ever think about these smells?
If you think about it, many of your favorite spring smells are life giving or from life giving things and moments.
The intoxicating aromas of hyacinth and lilacs.
The smell of rain.
The fresh smell of the earth as we dig in.
Birds become more active, frogs begin to sing, some critters wake from hibernation.
Do you ever wonder why the events leading up to and including Easter Sunday happened in the Spring?
Here are my thoughts.
What happens in the Spring?
Temperatures begin to warm up.
Spring brings hopes and promises of new life.
A Fresh Start.....................
Resurrection Sunday gives all of us that chance of a fresh start.
A Promise From God.
A New Life Given.
God, through his son Jesus promises new life to us if we ask him for forgiveness and into our hearts.
We are celebrating, or remembering the most important week in the history of man.
From the entrance on Palm Sunday, The Last supper to His arrest, trial, crucifixion, burial and Resurrection of our Lord.
No other period in time has had a greater effect.
The Greatest Story Ever Told:
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth and everything within the universe.
And God said, let Us make man in Our image after Our likeness.
As you see, Jesus was in the picture before the creation of man and talked about throughout the 'Old Testament.'
This wasn't some last ditch effort by God.
Go back to the Garden of Eden in the book of
"I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; HE shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel."
The prophet Isaiah Talks of Lucifer's fall from Heaven in 'Isaiah' 14:12-16
"How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground,
you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart:
I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north;
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’
Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.
Those who see you will gaze at you, And consider you, saying:
"Is this the man who made the earth tremble, Who shook kingdoms?"
Jesus himself said this:
"I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven." Luke 10: 18
The stage is set and God is waiting for the right time to send Jesus to save his people.
All through the Old Testament, God needed sacrifice of animal blod and flesh from His people.
He required the aroma of blood and burning flesh.
The death of a pure and unblemished animal.
He insisted that we praise Him and Him only.
With all that He showed his people, most continued to fail and choose false gods.
And all through this time, the 'Christ Savior' is mentioned by the prophets.
The time is right .................................
Jesus our Savior is born in the most humble of settings and lived a humble life of hard, physical work (he was a carpenter's son).
When it was time, He was tempted in every way possible.
40 days in the desert, without food and water, Satan tempted him.
The man that knew no sin was tempted in ways that we are tempted everyday.
(He is God, He couldn't sin, but experienced the temptations to help us when we are tempted.)
He had to be tempted and he had to pass the tests in order for Himself to understand what we go through in out daily lives.
After the 40 day test, angels ministered to His needs.
When Jesus started his ministry, He chose common people like Peter and John.
A tax collector in Matthew, considered by many as the scum of the earth back then.
He socialized and ministered to the poor, the weak, harlots, the not so good people.
As He said, "it is the sick that need a physician, not the healthy or well to do".
This man Jesus, could calm the seas.
Spirits knew Him in the distance and would flee by His word.
He cast out evil and could raise the dead.
"Lazarus..... come forth".........................
Had He not called him by name, the whole cemetery would have gotten up and come forth.
How difficult it would be to know every thought from everyone around you.
And still love them.
I can't imagine what it would be like in our humanness to know when and how I am going to die.
Even though Jesus is God the Son, He is every bit human in the flesh too.
Satan goes through all the trouble to set a trap for Jesus.
To destroy the Son of man.
God in all of his wisdom confused Satan and his evil band or he never would've had gone through the scheme to have Jesus crucified.
With the death and resurrection of Jesus foretold, Satan still was too blind to see.
Through God's great wisdom, He has confused Satan so he is clueless as to what is really going on.
A sacrifice, once and for all would be god's only Son.
Satan sawdeath and destruction.
God saw victory through Pure Love.
Through this all, Jesus makes it very clear that He is giving up his life, that it is not taken from him.
Freely giving his life for you and me.
That He is walking in God the Father's will and this must happen for man kind.
The Pure Love of Our God At Work.
On Palm Sunday the masses were cheering Him on, calling His name as they threw there garments and palm branches on the ground.
By Friday, many of these same people (paid off and strong arm tactics) were calling for his death.
You've heard the story and have seen pictures of 'The Last Supper.'
Jesus, still teaching and pleading to his disciples.
Praying for them in the garden of Gethsemane before His arrest.
Arrested like a common criminal, the man that knew no wrong was going to trail.
Even then, He healed the ear of a soldier that was cut off at that time.
Harassed, beaten beyond recognition, denied by Peter, beaten some more.
Wearing a crown of thorns in total mockery.
Off to be crucified.
Naked and humiliated, he was nailed to the cross.
Crucifixion is one of the most repulsive, disgusting and cruel ways to die in all the history of man.
Crucifixion was a criminal's death, not that of an innocent man.
God's timing had it so Jesus, would die this kind of death.
Again, dead flesh and blood sacrifice.
This time, God did it for us.
For all time.
The last and final covenant.
God's promise is about to come true for all of mankind.
I'm not saying this is true or even the case, but I believe Jesus died, when he did, of a broken heart, not simply from the pain and suffering.
Yes, I know He was hanging on a cross in pain and yes He was beaten half to death.
However, Do you recall when Jesus said in Matthew 27:45-46 "My Father, why have you forsaken me"?
Right after that he said "It is finished" and He gave up His spirit.
I think the separation from His Father broke His heart and shortened His painful human existence on the cross.
A relationship so close and intimate, that Jesus was lost without His father.
Just my thought.
At that moment, the skies darkened and the earth shook. The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
Mark 15:38 The curtain separated the Holy Place from everyone but the high priest.
The Holy Place was where the presence of God dwells on the mercy seat.
The curtain was a constant reminder to the Israelites that their access to God depended on another physical human, and that this access was only granted through the physical works of the sacrificial system.
God was in such a rush to leave the constraints of a man made temple, that He tore the curtain on the way out.
Because of the ultimate sacrifice on the cross of Calvary, we now have access to God through Jesus Christ, who is the mediator of the New Covenant.
Three days later, something very special happened.
The stone was rolled away and our Lord was walking the earth.
He ascended to Heaven, to our Father, to complete his task.
If you recall, Mary wasn't allowed to hold him until he ascended to Heaven first.
Can I have an Amen?
Satan may have thought he had won the battle, but there was no battle.
Words that can create a universe and everything within .
Words that create angels (even fallen angels)
Words spoken and the keys of death are handed over to Jesus.
Nothing can keep Jesus down.
God knew this from the very beginning of time
That was the plan
Okay, so we have death and sacrifice, but what good is it if we don't have life.
Jesus arose on Sunday, the 3rd day as he sad he would.
Victory in His hands and promises, and victory for you and me if we believe.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57 Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.Through this ultimate love sacrifice, you and I can walk in victory today.
Imagine, becoming children of the most high and living God.
If you haven't taken the time to ask Jesus into your heart, there is no time like the present.
HE HAS RISEN.
Jesus himself said on Palm Sunday, "I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet (his followers), the stones will cry out." Luke 19:40
The Chorus from a 'Sandi Patti' song of several years ago.
"Was it a Morning like This"
Did the grass sing?
Over and over in a never ending round.
To hear her sing the whole song, click on the YouTube link.
You will enjoy it.
Well, it is time to fly for now, be sure to soar with the eagles.
Before I go, here are some Positive thoughts for the week and life ahead.
A Blessed Christ filled Easter Sunday and we will be back on Monday.
But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
Joshua 24:15 (NIV)
Because, if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved
Romans 10: 9
There is no time like the present
A Blessed Resurrection Sunday to you.
May God richly bless you.
Your friend in Christ

It was not given to you by your parents,
It was loaned to you by your children.
We do not inherit the Earth from our
