IT'S CHRISTMAS!
December 19, 2016
Hi,

The girls are fresh from the beauty parlor.

Don't they look so nice?

After the second warmest meteorological autumn in southwest Michigan's recorded history, winter has come with a

vengeance.

Lots of snow.

Blowing snow, Lake affect snow, snow storms.

Toss in some bitter cold temperatures.

This has the making of a good OLE fashion winter (what I remember as a child and young adult).

It makes for very active bird feeders for sure.

Birds are ultra sensitive to change in the barometric pressure.

When the pressure drops, birds know the weather is about to change, and this time of year feed like there is no tomorrow.

As mentioned, my annual Christmas letter.

Click off now or stick around and enjoy.

Either way.........

A Merry Christmas to you.

It's called CHRISTMAS for a reason.

You know, as in CHRIST.

It's not called Holiday.

Where did we go soft?

Politicians thinking it might offend a nationality, or small sect or other religion.

We wont call it Christmas, we will get the media and retailers to start referring to Christmas as Holiday.

All you may hear now is 'Holiday Parade', 'Holiday Tree', Holiday Gifts, and 'Holiday Cards'.

School kids no longer get 'Christmas Break', it is now 'Holiday Break'.

Christians, and even believers in God have gone soft.

We are still a majority, and our voices need to be heard.

We don't need to sit back, indeed the bible commands us to share the good news, not to hide it.

Where do "For the people, and by the people" get off with this, unless we have given them the right to do so.

America was founded on Christianity and Christian beliefs.

Yes we can be flexible, but not to the point we have lost our identity.

You know the saying, "When in Rome do as the Romans do."

I don't know how things are in Canada, if they have digressed this much.

I do know we must stand up for Our Rights and Children of God.

Centuries before the birth of Jesus, His birth was foretold.

Some biblical experts suggest there are hundreds of references to Jesus.

Here are but a few regarding Jesus’ birth.

Isaiah 7:14:

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”

Isaiah 9:6:

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Micah 5:2:

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”

I think that is pretty clear, don't you?

Seven or so hundred years later, God sends the angel 'Gabriel' to Mary, A virgin promised to Joseph.

Matthew 1: 18-25' and Luke 1:26-38 give reference.

So important that the name given is to be 'Jesus', God makes sure the angel Gabriel is given instruction to tell Joseph His name shall be "Jesus".

In 'Luke chapter 2', you can read about the birth of Jesus.

You can also read how an angel of the Lord came to the shepherds.

Matthew 2; you read about the wise men, how they followed the Star to where the Christ child was.

Also you read about the life saving flight into Egypt.

So, we have the savior of the world, born in a stable/barn, and within two years He and his family escaping for their lives, the massacre of all male children two years old and younger.

One heck of a way to begin life.

So, we have Jesus, the Christ (as in Christmas), and the celebration of His birth.

Yet some how His day gets watered down because it might offend a few?

Dig deeper into God's word and you will read some disturbing news (good news for believers of in Jesus).

Christ Jesus............

Never wrote a best selling novel, or any book for that matter.

He never traveled more than 50/60 miles from home.

A carpenter's son without a formal education.

Yet, the Spirit of the Lord was upon him.

Jesus is still the most recognized name on Earth.

The bible is the most published and popular book.

Children flocked to Him.

The sick and the broken hearted would cry to him and he would heal them.

There is a saying "Wise Men Still Seek Him"

Now more than ever, we must seek Him.

We must seek the savior of mankind.

Bring the CHRIST back into Christmas.

Christ Jesus, the most wonderful gift given by the one and only Living God.

a Blessed, and Very Merry Christmas,

Here is to the beginning of a prosperous 2017 (Lord Willing).

God Bless.

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Luke 2:1-11

"Treat the earth well:

It was not given to you by your parents,

It was loaned to you by your children.

We do not inherit the Earth from our

Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children."

Ancient Indian Proverb.

Your friend indeed,

Ron Patterson
