Easter, God's Joy
April 19, 2019

Today, Easter seems to be too much about egg hunts, candy, gifts and so on.

Lost in the hype is God's Gift to all.

The Greatest Story Ever Told, with a twist.

In years past, I would try to write on the true Easter Story.

The leading up to and the Grand Event itself.

The Death and Resurrection of Jesus so we may have salvation, and life to the full.

Yet through it all, many religions seem to miss a huge point.

How are we to live life to the fullest without Joy.

God's Joy.

When you ask Jesus into you heart, to forgive you of all your sin, you are no saved.

'When you give your life to Jesus, You make Him Lord' of your life.

As a loving King, he freely and with joy gives your life back to you.

"The Joy of the Lord is My Strength". (Nehemiah 8:10)

No matter how you see it, Joy is a vital part of life and living.

God wants to share His joy with you.

You've heard the saying.....

“No God, No Peace. Know God Know Peace.”

It holds just as true with Joy.

The living word is very clear on the Joy of the Lord.

"No God, No Joy. Know God, Know Joy.

It is also clear, that the enemy plans to steal our joy.

Marion Webster describes Joy as:

1: The emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires.

The expression or exhibition of such emotion.

2: A state of happiness or felicity.

3: A source or cause of delight.

Typically fleeting moments for you and me.

We find joy in a new car or our home.

A relationship.

Joy is found in our gardens.

Joy is in our families.

Possibly in wildlife and creation that surrounds us.

Joy is in the Lord.

"The Joy of the Lord is My Strength".

God's Joy is a lasting joy.

In the Book of Psalms, King David mentions the joy of The Lord on several occasions.

Here are some examples.

"My heart leaps for joy" (Psalms 28:7).

"You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound" (Psalms 4:7).

Even with his faults and short comings, it is no wonder God called David "a man after his own heart" (Acts 13:22).

Joy of the Lord.

Now, the enemy of God (satan), and man has a different goal.

His goal is to make life as miserable as possible for the children of the All mighty.

The bible often refers to the devil as the accuser of God's people.

The devil is tricky, and oh so subtle with his guile a bag of tricks.

He comes to steal or joy.

Jesus calls him "the father of lies". (John 8:44).

Jesus also says this:

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

Have life to the full ....

His Joy.

Read on my friend.

The Apostle Peter refers to the enemy in this way.

"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (destroy)" 1 Peter 5:8.

You and me.

How Good is Our Heavenly Father?

Jesus has this to say.

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:9-11

“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:11-13

Does this mean we can also ask for His Joy?

Of course.

Again we go back to the gospel of John.

Read carefully.

"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." John 15:11

"Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete." John 16:24

“I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them." John 17:13

Joy made full.

Joy made complete.

A full measure of His Joy.

The Joy of the Lord.

Galatians 5:22 says that "joy is a fruit of the spirit."

1 Peter 1:8 says to "rejoice with joy."

Romans 13:15 talks about "peace and joy in believing."

Words that are full of God's joy for you and me.

This doesn't mean we live perfect lives, or there will be no worries.

Jesus' joy made complete allows us to get through the rough times.

He even mentions how we will be persecuted because we believe.

Still, we can have the full measure of his joy.

Even in hard times, we have confidence in Him and live with a calmness surrounding us.

His Joy in Us?

It is possible.

All because he lived, died for our sins and was resurrected for our salvation.

The Greatest Story ever Lived.

How might I get this Love and Joy you may ask?

It is rather simple.

Gods' word shows us how.

Read on.

Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6

"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12

"If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

If you lack His Joy in your life.

If you haven't accepted Jesus into your heart.

If you haven't made Him your Lord.

He was crucified.

He bled and died for our sins, our sicknesses and diseases.

He died and arose from the dead, and was lifted up to heaven.

So our you and my life may be complete.

That also includes 'God's Joy'.

There is no time like the present.

Know God, Know Love, Know Joy.

Salvation is free for those who believe in Him.

A blessed Resurrection Sunday my friends.

I'll see you Monday, Lord willing, and God Bless.

He Is Risen.

"To get the full value of joy you must have somebody to divide it with".

Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens)

Who are you going to share The Lord's Joy with?

From God's written word.

"For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord; I sing for joy at what your hands have done"

Psalms 92:4

A Blessed week to you .

Your friend indeed,

Ron Patterson
